Northeast Animal Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit organization located in Northeast Philadelphia. Founded in 2000, we have helped more than 2,100 cats find new homes. We are dedicated to saving homeless, unwanted and abandoned cats. We depend solely on donations, which are tax deductible. Our goal is to place all cats in stable, loving homes where they will be cared for and never be abandoned, abused or neglected. NAR focuses on having feral (wild) cats spayed and/or neutered to decrease overpopulation. In the process of helping feral cats, we come across many who are friendly. These cats receive medical attention with the help of local veterinarians, and when ready, are put up for adoption. All our cats are cared for in foster homes. As a general policy, we do not take owner-surrendered cats. Northeast Animal Rescue (NAR), is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization, tax ID # 20-0027010. Our official registration and financial information may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling toll-free, within Pennsylvania, 800-732-0999. Registration does not imply endorsement. Small animals (pocket pets)In 2019, we expanded our rescue to include small animals (aka pocket pets), due to the overwhelming need for rescue and the lack of rescue organizations set up to help these animals. Our focus is predominantly hamsters, gerbils and guinea pigs. Our current animals have come from owner-surrender and local Animal Control facilities. If you are seeking help with a small animal, reach out to narcats@gmail.com. If you are interested in adopting one of our small animals, fill out the small animal application. Minors, please have a parent or guardian assist with filling out the application. We will not place any small animal without parent or guardian awareness and approval. We are foster home-based rescue, with locations in Bucks County and Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Burlington County, New Jersey. We do not have a physical shelter that you can come in to browse the available animals. At this time, we are not conducting meet and greet appointments out of an abundance of caution. We can do a video chat or share videos. Basic hamster care 101 (video)Pregnancy information with hamstersGuinea Pig informationMissing Cat Tips (PDF)Low-cost spay/neuter programs (PDF) |
