Coming at you from the town of Catrock... Meet Fred and Barney!

The brothers were adopted from NAR as kittens but were recently returned to the rescue, at no fault of their own, when their owner moved.

Fred and Barney are very sweet, loving cats who enjoy playing with toys or just lounging with their foster mom. They are still getting used to the other cats in their foster home.

*Heart Murmur Details:
Fred and Barney were diagnosed with cardiac murmurs when they were approximately 5 years old, and the grades of the murmurs have remained relatively unchanged over the last 6-7 years, from the times they were seen at their vet, to when they came back to NAR and were seen by our vet.  As the cats were asymptomatic and the murmurs haven’t changed over time, our vets have agreed that a cardiology visit was not immediately necessary.  However, if either Fred or Barney should develop signs of worsening heart disease, they will need to immediately see the vet and revisit an appointment with a veterinary cardiologist.

Murmurs can occur in cats for a number of reasons, whether congenital or acquired.  Some cats require daily medication, some cats will only require monitoring, semi-annual veterinary exams, and attention to their weight and exercise tolerance.  Fred and Barney’s murmurs are likely acquired, but they are presently stable and do not require any medication.*
