Other Pictures of Maxie (click to see larger version):Our website is updated daily Maxie is spayed, up to date on shots, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. She was born around March 2008. Maxie got the all clear from the vet after her surgery! She is now ready to find that furever home. March 2013 Adopted in 2010, Maxie is a truly unique and beautiful cat. From her long, Calico-colored coat to her big bushy feet – she is a polydactyl kitty with 5 toes on each foot! (Hind feet normally only have 4 toes each) – Maxie is a stunner! However, life hasn’t been so peachy the past few years. It has come to NAR’s attention that she is not being cared for properly and she will be coming back to the rescue. It turns out Maxie has been suffering from severe stomatitis and NAR is unsure for how long. Maxie will return to NAR the weekend of March 1. Once she is back in NAR's care, Maxie will be evaluated, fully vetted and her teeth will be removed.
About Stomatitis Stomatitis is a markedly painful syndrome in which the gums and mouth become severely inflamed. The cat's immune system plays a role in most cases of stomatitis. In these cases, the cat's immune system begins to reject teeth in the mouth. Some cases of stomatitis can be successfully managed with medications. However, the most effective treatment for stomatitis in most instances is extraction of large numbers of teeth. Although extracting the majority (or, in some cases all) of the teeth in the mouth seems at first to be a very unsavory option, most cats with stomatitis show significant improvement in well-being after the procedure. Many are completely cured. Others suffer residual inflammation, and require medications even after removal of teeth. April 2010 Maxie is a beautiful long haired calico who is looking for her second chance in life. Maxie was rescued by a kind woman who found her hungry and ill. Her rescuer described her as a petite calico with big, bushy feet. That is because Maxie is polydactyl which means she has extra toes. Actually she has 5 on each paw. Maxie has received all the medical care she needed to be the healthy, active family member in your home. The rescue has not exposed her to dogs so her views on dogs is not known yet. Please give her a forever home with lots of love. if interested in adopting Maxie please fill out an application at www.nar.rescuegroups.org.
