UPDATE APRIL 2022: Merida has adapted to her foster home but she is still very shy and only wants human contact at feeding time. She is a sweet girl and gets along with other cats and the two large dogs she lives with, but needs an extended period of time before she adjusts to people.
Merida is spayed, UTD on vaccines and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Approx. DOB is August 16, 2018.
*Merida must be adopted with another kitten/cat, or to a home with a kitten or active cat.* Experienced owner with veterinary references required*
Merida was recently saved during an on-going TNR project. She was found to be friendly, but scared, so she was brought into foster for extra attention to get her socialized. She was a bit hissy at first but never aggressive. When reaching to pick her up, she would hiss, but never scratched or bit. After a few minutes of being held, she turns into a purr machine, even rolling over for belly scratches.
Merida has been extremely shy, but is slowly coming out of her shell. She recently started playing with spring toys and a turbo scratcher and is not always hiding in her cubby like she did before. Merida is still adjust ing to her new surroundings, but gets a bit more comfortable each day. Merida has not been fully exposed to the other cats and two large dogs she is living with, but she has not hissed or reacted badly with anyone she has met so far. Merida has also had some exposure to young children and has done well with them, sitting on their laps and being held, getting lots of attention.Merida will require a great deal of cuddling and patience as she adjusts to a new home.
